Juez John Stargel, siempre al servicio de la justicia
Mucha gente conoce el excelente servicio que ha caracterizado a John Stargel como legislador y juez, pero seguramente muy pocos saben de sus orígenes hispanos. Criado por su abuela hispano-cubana, y estadounidense de primera generación, a quien él cuidó durante su vejez, a su lado John creció con “ropitas” y amor “resistente”. La dedicación a Dios, la familia y el trabajo duro fueron parte de su educación. Él interiorizó estos valores al graduarse de High School Salutatorian, y luego al egresar con honores de la Universidad de Tampa en Economía y Administración de Empresas. Más tarde obtuvo Juris Doctorado con honores de FSU College of Law. El éxito de John es excepcional, no sólo por sus sobresalientes logros académicos, sino porque no fue un obstáculo para su carrera el haber formado una hermosa familia siendo muy joven con Kelli, su novia de la escuela, justo después de la graduación. Y es que la fe y los valores familiares fueron siempre su motivación para la excelencia y el éxito. Más tarde, su esposa, Kelli Stargel, también sirvió durante 14 años en la legislatura. Hoy John y Kelli tienen cinco hijos y nueve nietos. Bien conocido y querido, el juez Stargel continúa su servicio en el Tribunal de Apelación del 6º Distrito en Lakeland. Su ilustre carrera incluye nombramientos por tres gobernadores de Florida a puestos de prominencia. Fewer may know of his Hispanic origins. Raised by his Spanish-Cuban first generation American grandmother, for whom he cared in her old age, John grew up on “ropitas” and “tough” love. Dedication to God, family, and hard work were instilled in his upbringing. He internalized these values, graduating High School Salutatorian, honors graduate from the University of Tampa in Economics and Business Management, and later, Juris Doctorate with honors from FSU College of Law. John’s achievements are exceptional, not just because of his outstanding academic achievement, but because he did so despite having married Kelli, his high school sweetheart, right after high school, and immediately starting their family. Faith and family were always his motivation for excellence and success. Later, John’s wife, Kelli Stargel, would also serve 14 years in the legislature. Today John and Kelli have five children and nine grandchildren. Well known and beloved, Judge Stargel continues his service on the 6th District Court of Appeal in Lakeland. His illustrious career includes appointments by three Florida governors to positions of prominence. His outstanding judicial temperament, patience, astute compassionate rulings, adherence to the Constitution, and impeccable character recently placed John on the short list for the Florida Supreme Court.
