Esto es Amor
Hace algunos años, un doctor que trabajaba como voluntario de un hospital conoció a una pequeña niña que sufría de una extraña enfermedad. La única manera en la que podía recuperarse era recibiendo una transfusión de su hermano menor, quien tras haber sobrevivido a la misma enfermedad había desarrollado los anticuerpos necesarios para combatirla.
Entonces, el doctor le explicó pacientemente la situación al niño y le preguntó si estaría dispuesto a dar su sangre. Por un momento, el pequeño dudó, pero después de un suspiro muy profundo, le respondió: “Sí, le voy a dar mi sangre para que ella viva”.
El niño estaba acostado en una camilla al lado de su hermana, y se veía muy sonriente mientras se realizaba la transfusión. Los médicos y los enfermeros que atendían el procedimiento observaban cómo poco a poco regresaba el color a las mejillas de la niña. Para su sorpresa, el pequeño se empezó a poner pálido y su sonrisa fue desapareciendo. Parecía estar muy asustado. Entonces, el pequeño miró al doctor y le preguntó con voz temblorosa: “Doctor: a qué hora empezaré a morir?”
El niño no había comprendido la explicación del doctor y había entendido que debía dar toda su sangre a su hermanita para que ella pudiera vivir, y que por ello moriría. Lo más impresionante es que aún así él había aceptado hacerlo, porque el verdadero amor da sin condiciones.

El verdadero amor da sin condiciones y es capaz de hacer el más grande de los sacrificios por el ser amado. Por eso, en el mes de febrero, cuando celebramos el Día del Amor y la Amistad, seamos como ese pequeño niño de la historia y démosle vida a las personas que amamos siendo generosos, atentos y demostrando cada día lo importante que son y que tenerlos con nosotros es toda una bendición.
El amor es poderoso porque viene de Dios. Él es la esencia del amor y es su cualidad más fuerte.
This is Love
A few years ago, a doctor who volunteered at a hospital treated a little girl suffering from a rare disease. The only way she could recover was by receiving a transfusion from her younger brother, who, after surviving the same illness, had developed the necessary antibodies to fight it.
The doctor patiently explained the situation to the boy and asked if he would be willing to give his blood. For a moment, the little boy hesitated, but after taking a deep breath, he replied, “Yes, I will give my blood so that she can live.”
The boy was lying on a stretcher next to his sister, and he looked very happy as the transfusion was taking place. The doctors and nurses attending to the procedure watched as the color slowly returned to the girl’s cheeks. To their surprise, the little boy began to turn pale, and his smile started to fade. He seemed very frightened. Then, the little boy looked at the doctor and asked in a trembling voice, “Doctor, when will I start to die?”
The boy had not understood the doctor’s explanation and thought he had to give all his blood to his little sister so that she could live, and that because of this, he would die. What’s most impressive is that he had still agreed to do it because true love gives unconditionally. Love is powerful because it comes from God. He is the essence of love and His strongest quality (1 John 4:8).

True love gives unconditionally and is capable of making the greatest sacrifices for the loved one. Therefore, in February, when we celebrate Valentine’s Day, let us be like that little boy in the story and give life to the people we love by being generous, attentive, and showing every day how important they are and how having them with us is a true blessing.
