PGTV – La Televisión del Gobierno de Polk

Como residente y Comisionada del Condado de Polk, admito que soy una gran admiradora del canal de televisión del gobierno y de sus programas.

PGTV, como se le conoce, es el canal de cable del condado que transmite las 24 horas del día y se puede encontrar en Spectrum 644, Comcast 5 y Frontier 20. En PGTV, usted puede seguir las reuniones del gobierno local y estatal, conocer los servicios del condado, disfrutar presentaciones comunitarias y desfiles, descubrir actividades interesantes y participar en temas que lo afectan como residente.

PGTV hace un gran trabajo al llevar la información al público. Me gusta que también ofrezcan programación en español. El Condado de Polk tiene más de 193,000 residentes hispanohablantes. Esa es una gran parte de nuestra población. Necesitamos brindar información importante a todos nuestros residentes.

La Directora de la División de Comunicaciones del Gobierno del Condado de Polk, Amber Smith, comentó que una de sus metas es asegurarse de que las noticias y programas de PGTV sigan siendo relevantes. “Las necesidades de nuestra audiencia están cambiando”, nos dice Smith. “La gente quiere sus noticias rápidamente, por lo que nos esforzamos en llevar la información a PGTV y a nuestros canales de redes sociales lo más pronto posible”.

El Supervisor de PGTV, Waldo Arias, expresó que se siente orgulloso de su equipo y de los programas que ofrecen. “Por ejemplo, durante los huracanes del año pasado, hicimos las

conferencias de prensa tanto en inglés como en español”, dijo Arias. “Antes de que llegara el huracán, también enviamos información para los residentes en ambos idiomas. Queríamos asegurarnos de que todos nuestros residentes recibieran la información y de que aquellos que hablan español la tuvieran en su idioma nativo”.

Smith añade que vienen más cambios importantes para PGTV. “Hemos empezado a hacer más programas de Informe de los Comisionados en diferentes lugares, lo cual ayuda a contar la historia del área y le da al espectador la oportunidad de visitar lugares y áreas del condado que de otra forma tal vez no podrían conocer. Nuestros Comisionados del Condado son maravillosos y siempre están dispuestos a colaborar con su voz o talento en nuestros videos. Sigan viendo PGTV, nunca se sabe a quién podrán ver en el canal”, dijo Smith.

PGTV Polk County Government Television

As a resident and Polk County commissioner I admit to be a big fan of the county’s Polk Government Television station and shows.

PGTV, as it is known, is the county’s 24-hour-a-day cable channel and can be found on Spectrum 644, Comcast 5 and Frontier 20. On PGTV, you can follow local and state government meetings, learn about county services, enjoy community performances and parades, discover exciting activities, and engage in issues that affect you as a resident.

PGTV does a great job of getting the information out to the public. I love that they offer programming in Spanish, too. Polk County has more than 193,000 Spanish-speaking residents. That is a large part of our county’s population. We need to be able to provide important information to all our residents.

Polk County Government Communications Division Director Amber Smith said one of her goals is to make sure the news reported and shows on PGTV remain relevant. “The needs of our audience are changing,’’ Smith said. “People want their news quickly, so we strive to get the information out on PGTV and our social media channels as soon as possible.”

PGTV Supervisor Waldo Arias said he is proud of his team and the shows offered. “For example, during the hurricanes last year, we did the press conferences in both English and Spanish,’’ Arias said. “Before the hurricane hit, we also sent out information for residents in both languages. We wanted to make sure all of our residents are getting the information and that those who speak Spanish were getting it in their native language.”

Smith said there are more exciting changes for PGTV on the horizon. “We have started doing more of the Commissioner’s Report shows on location, which can help in telling the story and it gives the viewer a chance to visit county locations and departments with the commissioners that they may not get to see otherwise. Our County Commissioners are wonderful and really good sports, they are always up to lending their voice or talents to our videos. Keep watching, you never know who you will see on PGTV,’’ Smith said.
